Stuart is leading this walk: The High Chart Challenge (East Surrey – Woldingham)

Distance: 14 miles – Approx 6 hours.

Level of difficulty: Moderate to High (3 quite steep ascents, 2 of which are quite short. 1 steep descent)

Starting point: Marden Car Park. Woodlands Trust , Gangers Hill,  Woldingham CR3 7AD (nearest post code)

Start Time: 09.30 on June 2nd

Journey time from Ashtead 30 minutes (M25 – J6 A22 then A25 Tandridge)

Pub (The Carpenters – Limpsfield Chart) a third of the way round offering food but limited menu and quite expensive. However plenty of common ground in front, to sit and eat sandwiches.

Stuart reports that he found the route full of interest –  “varying terrain.. down-land, woodland (full of bluebells but sadly past their best when we walk), farmland and residential (more than I would normally entertain, but an opportunity to see how the other half live!); stunning views across the Weald; lots of places of historical interest; generally a well- defined and secure under foot path throughout. The only downside is that the M25 noise level quite intrusive at the beginning (short distance) and at the end of the walk.
